Self-portrait

Place yourself in front of a mirror and sit comfortably. Using a pen or pencil, look only at your face in the mirror and not at your paper. Observe what you see without bias or criticism and make the marks on your pad, creating a ‘blind portrait’. Once you feel you are done, you may look down. Don’t judge yourself on what you have made, as you have been doing this blind. See the lines and how they make up a beautiful piece of art.

Task length: 5-10mins

ALTERNATIVE: If you are unable to see or are uncomfortable looking at the mirror for a long amount of time, either make marks on the paper of what you imagine the colour blue to look like, or observe an object that inspires you and follow the above steps.
